General Position Description:
The Coordinator, Employer Relations acts as a primary liaison for the college’s career programs responsible for cultivating partnerships and developing internships, jobs, and other work-based learning experiences with public and private employers in the region. The position includes the development and application of strategies, planning and recruitment activities to build new employer and community partnerships and maintaining current employer relationships. The Employer Relations Coordinator works collaboratively with Internship & Workforce Services (
IWS
) Campus Coordinators and reports to the Director of Work-Based Learning.
Salary Range:
$ 41,447
Description of Job Function:
1. Identify, recruit, and develop employer relationships to expand internship, employment, and other work-based learning experiences for students by engaging in one-on-one contact with prospective employers and organizations.
Required Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
Required Field of Study:
Student services, human resources, marketing, management or related field.
Other Required Qualifications:
Minimum of two years professional experience in career services (or closely related area) and employer relationship-building within higher education and/or business environments.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to effectively communicate interpersonally, orally, and in writing.
Ability to collaborate with other departments in order to resolve issues to full resolution.
Skill in the use of personal computers and knowledge of Microsoft computer software.
Ability to cultivate partnerships with business and community partners
Demonstrate initiative and strong interpersonal skills for relating effectively with employers, the campus community and the Internship & Work-Based Learning team.
Ability to work independently, initiate, develop, and implement tasks and projects.
Ability to work effectively and meet the needs of the student population.
Knowledge of best practices for establishing effective employer relationships and working with employer partners.
Highly motivated, team-oriented individual who also has the ability to develop and independently manage projects with accountability to multiple college constituents.
Adaptability and ability to forge new collaborative partnerships with employers, faculty, staff, and other constituents.
Excellent customer service skills.
Excellent presentation skills
General Working Conditions:
This job primarily operates in a professional office environment and within the community staffed by professional and student staff members. The individual in this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets, die cut machines, laminators, and fax machines. Some position responsibilities require tasks outside of the office, in either a classroom setting, programming venue, or outdoors.
While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to frequently remaining stationary, moving, reaching, positioning self and occasionally ascending/descending, lifting/moving objects weighing between 25 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus. Cognitive abilities include but are not limited to frequently using discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, maintaining confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision-making.
