Manager, Outpatient Coding
The Department of Health Information Management has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Manager, Outpatient Coding to work on the UHealth Campus. The Manager, Outpatient Coding ensures that coding of outpatient is accurate and in compliance with rules and regulations and develops strategies for the immediate remediation of any discrepancies.
Assists in the recruitment, training, and supervision of outpatient coding staff and generates performance reports.
Works with caregivers to obtain documentation to support assignment of medical codes.
Works with finance and revenue department to ensure the timely discharge of unbilled accounts and monitor department budget and spending. Prepares reports upon request and periodically.
Maintains current knowledge of HIM coding regulations and educates staff on any variations.
Conducts audits regularly to monitor coding and documentation accuracy, reports findings, and generates suggestions for resolution.
Reviews claim denials and rejections and implements corrective action.
Reports issues to upper management and recommends disciplinary actions.
Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in related field
Minimum 3 year of relevant experience
Certified Coding Professional, RHIT or RHIA Certification
Minimum 3 year of relevant experience
Knowledge of business and management principles
Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
Ability to establish department goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.
Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.
Ability to lead, motivate, develop and train others.
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
