Associate Director, Employer Engagement
The Toppel Career Center’s mission is to empower and connect students to achieve a lifetime of career fulfillment. We are looking for a passionate and innovative individual to join our highly motivated team within a fast-paced environment. The Associate Director will lead the center’s efforts to oversee assessment, marketing and communication efforts to employers. Establish new relationships with employers and identify areas of opportunities and growth for students in the external community. Provide support to the Executive Director and/or Associate Dean by performing specific duties in identified areas.
EMPLOYER ASSESSMENT AND COMMUNICATION
Oversee strategic marketing campaign for employers to increase engagement on campus, incorporating employer assessment and analysis
Lead efforts to conduct and analyze consistent assessment with employers to gauge the Toppel Career Center’s brand
Work with Director of Assessment and Communication to create, monitor, and report metrics that highlight the successes and identify areas of need within employer engagement and recruiting efforts
Oversee the design of targeted marketing materials by industry to promote students with companies and organizations based on findings
Utilize graduating student survey data to develop marketing analysis
Identify enrollment trends by student major and hometown to identify employer industries and locations of interest
Assist with the collection of placement data for students and alumni
Create metrics to develop a ranking system for employer engagement in campus activities
Work with Associate Director, Career Readiness, to share metrics with current and prospective employers on career preparation of our students
EMPLOYER DEVELOPMENT FUNCTIONS
Assist with job development efforts by conducting outreach to employers through cold-calls, networking, Salesforce, and LinkedIn to increase connections with recruiters
Schedule and conduct employer site visits on a local and national basis to determine company hiring needs and promote students and alumni as candidates; will require consistent travel
Represent the University of Miami at corporate functions to help gain exposure nationally
Utilize Toppel’s online career management system (Handshake) to develop strategic employer campaigns
Assist with management of Handshake including increasing employer contacts and managing employer registrations and job/internship postings
Work collaboratively with Employer Engagement staff to provide valuable and effective services to employers
Maintain daily contact with a high volume of employers
Attend appropriate conferences/events, educate staff on trends, and make presentations to students and alumni
EXTERNAL OUTREACH & ALUMNI DEVELOPMENT
Identify new types of organizations, including Start-Up ventures, to increase internship and job opportunities for students
Identify areas of opportunities and growth for students in the external community, including professional development activities and alumni events
Identify alumni at small, medium and large organizations and leverage relationships to make inroads for future hiring for jobs and internships
Serve as a liaison to the University of Miami Alumni Association
Develop relationships with alumni to expand efforts in preparing students for internships and full time jobs, including increasing volunteers for UShadow, mentoring, and student exposure to employers
Assist with identifying volunteers as in-house industry experts to support career coaching
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES, TOPPEL CAREER CENTER:
Maintain consistent employer appointments on a weekly basis (in-person and via phone or other communication channels)
Maintain individual student advising appointments via phone or Skype on a weekly basis
Serve as liaison to assigned school or college
Participate in weekly meetings with Employer Engagement team members to facilitate communication and coordination
Participate in weekly Toppel staff meetings and team-building exercises
Plan, implement, and evaluate innovative assessment as market trends change
Staff events during some evening and weekend hours
KNOWLEDGE, SKILS, ABILITIES (KSA):
Excellent written and verbal communication
Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
Strong organizational skills, communication skills, decision making skills, and crisis management skills required
Experience with career management system (Handshake) and Salesforce preferred
Understanding of statistical analysis software preferred
Skills in assessing, organizing, and prioritizing multiple tasks
Ability to present to small and large audiences on career-related topics
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Proficiency with LinkedIn
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s degree in higher education or related area preferred
Bachelor’s degree required
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Three to five years of full-time experience (with Master’s degree)
Five years of full-time experience (with Bachelor’s degree)
Relevant combination of education and experience may be considered
